How to entertain a toddler during lockdown – ISO life!
If you are like me and are in isolation with a toddler then this is for you!!
Our 2-year-old has been home a LOT more lately and while we love the family time we get to spend together, keeping them entertained at home can be tricky!
Here are some of the things I do at home to keep my little miss occupied while we find time to work from home.
Lockdown activities with kids
One of our little projects during isolation has been to grow a little herb garden and a small veggie plot. I definitely am not someone that knows a lot about gardening, but the extra time at home had me looking for a little project that I can do with my toddler. We have really enjoyed growing a few basic herbs & veggies, my daughter has loved getting her hands messy & helping in the garden. It is really quite relaxing and satisfying to grow things that you can cook with!
🍭Painting, arts & crafts
One of the first things I did when I realized we were all going to be restricted to our homes, was go to our local Kmart & pick up paint, brushes, crayons, paper and a bunch of things that we can use for crafts. These supplies have come in soo handy over the last few days, and we always do an hour or so of painting or crafts every morning! Depending on the age of your toddler, you can make this activity educational by drawing shapes, numbers & letters.
🍭Spend time in nature
If the isolation restrictions where you live allow for exercise, then getting outside for a walk around the block really brightens up our day! If our toddler is getting a bit stir crazy indoors, we pop her shoes on, grab our pram & head out for a nice long walk – we all get some fresh air and exercise it really is a win win!
🍭Support local small businesses
The current pandemic has been hard on small business so whenever possible I do research local businesses that can use some love right now! I have discovered so many local businesses that create educational activities for kids & also fun craft/baking boxes that you can have delivered to your home. The @thekookiemumster does really amazing cookie decorating kits which you can have delivered to your home. My close friend who runs @Sesame&Berry always has so many amazing sensory play ideas and activities that any toddler will LOVE!
If it is warm where you live try creating an outdoor water play station for your toddler– all you need is a table & a couple of spoons, bowls & cups of different sizes. Our toddler really enjoys pouring water into the different containers and mixing flowers & leaves into it! It makes a mess so if you can do this out doors it is much easier to clean up!
